Your Next Binge Watch: Sense8

I was honestly a bit reluctant to start watching Sense8. The idea seemed interesting but it had mixed reviews and the Wachowskis are pretty hit or miss these days (though I still maintain that Jupiter Ascending  falls into the hit category). But I got sick on Thursday so I decided to use my time wisely and dive in.

Holy motherfucking shit.

This show is the best kind of bonkers I've experienced in a long time.

I don't want to give too much away (though honestly, plot-wise, the audience is still very much in the dark even after the season ends) but the basic premise is that 8 strangers all over the world share a very unique connection. They share thoughts, abilities, and can even appear in someone else's stead. It's a bit confusing but it gets easier to follow as the show progresses.

One of the most beautiful shows I've ever watched, it's shot on location in each of our Sensates hometowns. We jump from Mexico City, to San Fransisco, to Chicago, to Iceland, to Berlin, to London, to Nairobi, to Seoul, to Mumbai, sometimes all in the same episode. From the visual standpoint alone it's worth watching.

The cast is also incredibly diverse, featuring POC and WOC and a trans woman. Everyone is phenomenal in their roles and they're ALL JUST SO DARN PRETTY. You will end up shipping everyone with everyone AND THAT IS OKAY (also... there might be an orgy scene so worth it just for that).

I realize that this review is very much IT'S PRETTY AND HAS PRETTY PEOPLE but honestly, the plot is so far from the main point of this show. It's truly about the connection these people have and how the "cluster" interacts amongst each other. A character doesn't know how to drive? No problem. Another will be there in a jiff to boost that car. Someone's in trouble? You know that somebody else is gonna help you beat them down. It is true love and community at its most pure. It's beautiful and wonderful and all I want to do is snuggle with all of them.

It's thrilling, it's mysterious, it's super sexy and it will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. Also, there's like a conspiracy or something, I honestly don't know.
