...what would it be?
I'm a big fan of fake it til you make it (I can't count the number of conversations I've had where I was way over my head but made it through to the other side through confident nodding and umm-hmmming), but I do wish I was an expert on myself. I've been living as myself for 26 years now but I still don't know all my ins and outs, why my skin does what it does, why I react to certain foods, why my energy bounces around like it does. I wish there was a way of knowing inherently, instead of spending lots on genetic testing and specialists. I want to know my quirks, even if I might not like what I find out.
Music is such a big, important part of my life, I wish I was an expert. When I'm reviewing albums, I'd love to be able to talk about the production and sound quality and vocal effects, and actually know what I'm talking about. I wish I could be like some of my favourite singers - Brendon Urie and Patrick Stump - who not only have amazing vocal ranges but can also play multiple instruments flawlessly. I'd love to be able to read notes off a page without mumbling "Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge" under my breath (weirdly, I was able to read notes without overthinking them when I played the flute in high school, but now it takes me ages). Heck, I'd even like to be able to write meaningful lyrics without falling back on rhyming couplets.
