I have mentioned many times that I come from a family of whisky drinkers. It's just kind of what we do, especially on the weekend. Now that it's fall, it's officially whisky season in my house, though it's not like we ignore the drink during the summer (you haven't lived until you've had a glass of whisky in 40 degrees. It doesn't really help, but it's delicious).
After much discussion with my family, I've decided on my top five whiskies.
1) Oban 14 Year Old
Arguably the drink that turned me into a full-blown whisky fan, I have a special place in my heart for both the whisky and the small town in which it is made.
2) Glenfiddich Rich Oak
If you don't think an entire bottle of scotch can be drunk in one night, you've never seen my family around a bottle of Rich Oak.
3) Arran Amarone Cask
Arran was one of the best distillery tours I've ever been on, and this particular drink has a nice sweetness to it.
4) Aberlour 12 Year Old
Another one that brings back great memories of a distillery, Aberlour is one of the staples in my house.
5) Glengoyne Tea Pot Dram
It's different, and quite strong (bottled at cask strength!) but delicious. And goes well with chocolate, which is always important.
